Baja Burrito Kitchen

Overall, Baja Burrito Kitchen was disappointing and I didn't enjoy my experience. I had not been here in 10 years or so (?), and I only stopped in because I was making a return in the area and I had forgotten how much I disliked it back then until I had already ordered. It comes off like a strange place to me. It might be a bit petty, but it was just a weird environment – there seemed to be lots of regulars with a bizarre ratio of men with “man-buns” and guys who really loudly shout things to the kitchen staff like – what's up baby?!? Maybe that is why the food took awhile. I wouldn't consider the burrito I ate to be Mexican food. Sure, it was wrapped in a tortilla with familiar Mexican ingredients inside – but nothing had Mexican flavor, because really there was no flavor. It was just bland all the way through. The beans were a soupy mess and seemed poured right into my burrito, which came to me in a tortilla that was: ripped, dry, totally not pliable, and ready to drip it's contents all over my plate. Seriously, it's called burrito kitchen – they should make awesome burritos, right?! The burrito was also prepared in a way that you'd eat all your guacamole first, then all of the next ingredient, then the next, and so on. I didn't make it to the steak until half way through. I was the only one I saw eating this nonsense of a burrito, so I guess try something other than a burrito. I noticed a lot of people ordering tacos, so maybe those are better. But, overall I think they just have a really complacent kitchen and the business thinks it is more awesome than it is because they have some core regulars. When I started writing this I was giving it a 3, but after reliving it as a finished up my review, it is very much a 2. The salsa bar is indeed the best part, so be sure to fill up on chips, salsa, and condiments. The steak in my burrito did have a nice char to it. But, I totally remember why I haven't been here in 10 years and why I wasn't surprised when every location but this one closed. My least favorite fast-casual Mexican in the area. Save your $10 – I totally wish I had skipped lunch that day and used those funds on an awesome 6-pack at Total Wine & More around the corner!

Baja Burrito Kitchen

Tonight was my first time going to a Baja Burrito Kitchen and it was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Baja Burrito, assuming it was their trademark burrito. When I took a bite out of my burrito, I got a mouth full of black beans. When I picked my burrito apart I had to really search for the grilled chicken. Overall, the burrito was pretty flavorless and not worth the money. The salsa bar was equally disappointing. The tomatillo based salsa was too watery and also flavorless. The other mild salsa I tried was just ok. Nothing special. I will say that the restaurant seemed super clean and service was quick. However, that's not enough to bring me back. Drive to the Chipotle or Gringos Locos down the street instead.

Went in here thinking it'll be an affordable, value-for-your-money spot. But, it wasn't. Ordered two burritos, the burrito grande and the cheese and beans burrito (with added chicken). You had to literally search around for the little amount of chicken they added. And all this for 17 bucks! I'd rather get my money's worth at Chipotle or Gringos Locos! Sorry Baja Burrito Kitchen, you won't be seeing me again any time soon!
